On November 9th, The Sons of the American Legion put on their annual Buck Stew Dinner, which is quickly becoming one of Foresthill’s signature events.

The buffet style of salads was enough for the admission price alone, and who ever did the corn bread should do it again, perfect. There was also a super good smoked trout, which I heard came from Pyramid Lake, prepared by Russ Young, and no he will not share his secret. Then came the stew, full of meat, no, not roadkill, but donated by local hunters. Excellent.

In addition to a great meal, the raffle was outstanding. Numerous items donated by local businesses and individuals, it was impressive to say the least. If you need a raffle announcer, Andrew Nimitz is your man. He even brought along John Wayne….sorta. Assisted by runners and Brianna, a budding Vanna White, the treasures were quickly and efficiently dispatched.

For those of you in attendance, see you next year. For those of you who missed it, you really did. Come out next year and see what this Community is all about, good friends, good times, and a good cause.
