Placer County will present at the Foresthill Forum Meeting on Monday, August 5 at 7 pm the steps they are planning to right the inequity in funding provided to failed fire zones.  There are eight zones in Placer County that do not pay enough fire tax (either from a special ballot or through Prop 13) so the County uses various financial “buckets” including General Fund tax dollars to subsidize the services they receive.  Annually, funds just from General Funds is well over one million dollars.  Foresthill receives no subsidy from Placer County in support of its Fire District.

County representatives will provide a substantive and transparent presentation summarizing the sources of funding for the CalFire Amador agreement for those zones, explain why Foresthill is not reimbursed for responding to calls that are the responsibility of Placer, and to share what consequences the zones of benefit will experience if they elect not to approve a special fire tax in 2020.

General Fund dollars were not intended to subsidize a few failed fire zones while communities such as Foresthill and Placer Hills fully fund their Fire Districts with no outside financial support from the County.

SAVE THE DATE:  Monday, August 5 at 7 pm at the Veterans Memorial Hall.  Arrive early as the facility has limited parking and seating.  Hear and learn first-hand from Supervisor Gustafson how this problem will be managed.
