The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will hold a public forum to provide an opportunity for customers of Foresthill Telephone Company to comment on the utility’s request to increase rates, among other things, as follows:

When: June 14, 2018, 6 p.m.

Where: Forest Hill Memorial Hall, 24601 Harrison St., Foresthill, CA 95631

The CPUC welcomes attendance and participation at this public forum, called a Public Participation Hearing, as public comments help the CPUC reach an informed decision. The CPUC Administrative Law Judge assigned to the case will preside over the public forum. The Administrative Law Judge is scheduled to write a Proposed Decision in the case for CPUC Commissioner consideration.

On October 2, 2017, Foresthill filed an application with the CPUC requesting a review of its intrastate revenue requirement and rate design. The application proposes increases to Foresthill’s rates for basic residential and business single-line service, LifeLine service, and other business services. Foresthill also requested a review of the High Cost Fund amounts that the company receives. Foresthill proposes to set its residential basic rates at $24, not including the surcharges and fees that the Federal Communications Commission uses to set the Access Recovery Charge (ARC) benchmark. The residential basic rates, inclusive of the ARC and state and federal fees and surcharges, would be set at $30.88 based on Foresthill’s all-inclusive rate calculation and proposed surcredit at the time of the application. Foresthill proposes a corresponding increase in the LifeLine rate from $6.11 to $7.50 to address a shortfall of $1.39. Foresthill also proposes to increase its basic business rate to $32.35, not including surcharges and fees.

While a quorum of Commissioners and/or their staff may attend, no official action will be taken.
