Richard Riley was born in San Francisco, CA and raised in San Carlos, CA. He passed away peacefully on Friday, May 29th in Auburn, CA. He was the son of Hugh and Claudine Grotheer Riley. He served in the military and was stationed in Germany. After his service, he worked as a product design engineer with Hewlett Packard for 40 years. He moved to Auburn in 1980, continuing his career with HP Roseville until his retirement. At that time, he moved to Foresthill, CA. He loved photography and traveling with his long-time friends, Chick and Nancy Woodfall. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marianne DuBois Riley, and their six children, Therese Young (Rod), Cathleen Lucas (John), Rosemary Bryan (Neil), Timothy Riley (Diane), Daniel Riley (Shelley), and Hugh Riley (Tonya). And grandchildren, Amber Hart (Ben), Kelli Riley, Elliott Guldborg, Emily Scher, Tim Riley Jr., Madeleine Bronstein (Caleb), Nora Riley, Samuel Riley, and Savannah Riley. And great-grandchildren Lillian Hart and Chloe Hart. His smile and easy laugh will be missed by all who knew him. Donations in his memory can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
