Do you work out? Not in the cheesy 80’s pickup-line sort of way, but actually stressing out your muscles and joints, on purpose. Even gardening, weekend softball or other outdoor activities, and sitting at a computer all day can stress your muscles and joints. If you are looking for some comfort and relief in a natural way, read on.
If you have someone to give you a massage, start there, but add some lavender, cypress, peppermint, basil, marjoram or copaiba. You could add these oils to a bath, but be sure to also include a small amount of fat so the oils will not cling to the side of the tub. While you are at it, you might as well add some Epsom salts, too.
Barring that, make up a rollerball including doTERRAs Deep Blue blend (includes Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, Helichrysum, Blue Tansy, Blue Chamomile, and Osmanthus ). A recent study in their lab on cells inflamed in vitro found that when exposed to this oil blend, inflammation and wound healing pathways were affected. Add the cannabinoid effects of copaiba, and the muscle soothing benefits of lemongrass and marjoram. We will be making these during my Copaiba v. This rollerball can be applied any time of the day, whenever you feel discomfort, as it is easy to carry with you.
Pre-workout, along with all the appropriate warm-up things you do, apply peppermint or eucalyptus (or doTERRAs Breathe Blend) to your chest and the bridge of your nose. This will allow greater oxygen intake (I have this in a salve base at the Boutique). Apply the Deep Blue Rub (also at the Boutique) to knees and muscles, as well as the bottom of your feet, pre-workout. This will aid your warm-up routine and put an extra zing in your step!
We demand a lot from our bodies, give back to it and give it a chance to recover well. Eat foods to fuel it, not demand more from it. Get 7-8 hours of sleep each night, take whole-food supplements, and use essential oils. Take your health into your hands!
