The entire Far West Nordic contingent will be participating in the US Ski & Snowboard Cross Country Junior National Championships March 3-10 in Utah.

In reflecting on the announcement, ASC Nordic Director and Head Coach Gus Johnson noted that his athletes are excited that JN’s are being held at Soldier Hollow. “Because our athletes have all raced there in the past, the Soldier Hollow venue is almost like a ‘home away from home course’ for them,” he said.

Fresh snow this past week has re-energized the skiers after a challenging season and Johnson believes they are really looking forward to coming together as a cohesive unit to proudly represent the Far West region.

As far as training regimes before travel to Utah commenced, Johnson commented that the athletes spent time focusing on recovery principles: mental and physical tune-ups, sleep, nutrition, and getting ahead on homework so they would be distraction-free once they get to JN’s.
