The Foresthill Wildfires are three games into league with a 2-1 record. After a 5-7 non-league slate the players believe they have what it takes to compete for a league title. It's a very balanced league this year with anticipated tough games being the norm. League play began with a trip to Woodland Christian which resulted in a 67-63 loss. Jaycie Zapata hit four triples on his way to 15 points. Nick Lechner had 10 points while Elias Estrada added 7. Hunter Williams stuffed the stat sheet with 8 points, 7 boards, 7 assists, and 10 steals. Next Forest Lake made the trip up to Foresthill and the home team came away with a thrilling 66-63 win. The Wildfires roared back from a 13 point halftime deficit by scoring 46 points in the 2nd half. Nick Lechner had the hot hand with 23 points and both Caleb Medrano and Jaycie Zapata chipped in 11. The team effort included Kaiden Pennington adding 9 points and Zapata and Williams leading the team with 5 assists each. On 1/2 Sacramento Waldorf made the trip up the hill and fell to the host 75-62. It was a total team effort with 9 guys scoring points. The Wildfires saw Skyler Tuttle explode for 25 including 3 key triples in the 2nd half. Lechner hit a couple key 2nd half shots on his way to 15 points. Estrada was key in a 1st half run on his way to 8 points. Williams again did a little of everything including two nice passes resulting in easy layups in the 4th quarter. The Wildfires have 11 league games left including a key home game on 1/11.
