Since fire season is here, your local Firewise Communities want you to know how to stay aware of wildfire threats in your area.

How do you know if your neighborhood is under threat from a wildfire?

Here are your local resources:

1.    1020 AM Radio – Foresthill Fire Protection operates this radio station, which will have info regarding any current incident. You can also stream it online at foresthillfire.org

2.    Readyplacer.org – This website will tell you if there are any current incidents in Placer County

3.    Placer Alert – at readyplacer.org, you can also sign up for Placer Alert, for notifications to your phone and email about a current incident affecting your address.

4.    Evacuation Warning – In the event of an Evacuation Warning, Placer Sheriff and other local law enforcement will go door to door to alert residents of an Evacuation Warning

5.    Mandatory Evacuation – In the event of a Mandatory Evacuation, law enforcement vehicles will drive through your neighborhood with the hi-lo siren (like the European-style sound, not the normal siren sound).

6.    yubanet.com – This website reports fire information for the Sierra Foothills region.

Look for our next article which will give helpful tips on preparing for an evacuation. Contact your Firewise Community leader for more information, visit our Facebook page at Foresthill Firewise Communities, or call Dory Cox at (530) 401-1750.
