The Foresthill Pool and Elijah’s Jar each have an additional $300 in their coffers.
Local realtor Jan Wechsler generously offered to donate $1.00 to each organization for every pair of shoes she collected for Coldwell Banker’s recent Soles4Souls campaign.
Wechsler set up a drop off at her Foresthill home and promoted the effort to Foresthill residents through various outlets.
“I love where I live and I wanted to think of a way that Foresthill could benefit, too,” said Wechsler. “Thank you to Bree McCollam and Samantha Meltz for helping to spread the word and a big thank you to all the generous Foresthill Souls who donated shoes.”
Since Soles4Souls began in 2006, they’ve distributed over 30 million pairs of shoes in all 50 states and in 127 countries. They kept 42 million pounds of shoes and clothing out of landfills while helping people in need. Their micro-enterprise projects provide individuals the ability to start small businesses and lift themselves and their families out of poverty. They are second wave responders providing shoes and clothing after natural disasters.
On June 7th agents from local Coldwell Banker offices packed up more than 4100 pairs of shoes. Generous Foresthill residents donated 274 pairs of shoes to that collection.
