After three meetings with the Memorial Hall Board, several conversations with Placer County Parks, a couple of months securing the plaques and another month or so of procrastination, the newly planted trees in front of Memorial Hall have been dedicated to Doris Erickson and Ina North. In order to plant and dedicate a tree, you need approval from the Hall Board and Placer County Parks—no small feat and well worth the effort.
Late in the morning of July 10th, Carol and Larry Jordan, along with David Maxwell and Linda and Steve Smith, the dedication plaques were cemented in place. The idea is to replace some of the diseased trees which have been removed and dedicate new trees as a memorial to those in our Community who have made significant contributions.
This first of hopefully many more new trees would not have happened without the approval of the above mentioned Boards. In addition, Sharon Finning, who donated the trees, the outstanding metal artwork of Bernie LaForest and the direct intervention of former Placer County Supervisor Jennifer Montgomery. Thanks to you all.
Our Park is certainly one of the jewels of the park system. Perhaps this effort will keep it that way!
