On January 23rd, 2019 Faye Irene Berry gently slipped away.

She was born Faye Irene Foote on October 21st, 1940, in Huron, South Dakota, to Burr and Dorline Foote. Raised on the family farm near Carpenter (SD) surrounded by three older brothers and loving parents, she kept everyone on their toes with her impish antics. Faye enlisted brother Harold, her favorite cohort, by saying, "Mom won't mind if we ..."

Faye attended the Foote Elementary School, a one-room country school. She attended Yale High School for two years then, after moving to Huron, Faye graduated from Huron High School in 1958. Shortly thereafter, she began her travels, starting with Alaska. She soon settled in Sacramento, California, where she met and married Dave Berry and started a family.

Taking care of her family was Faye's lifelong passion. A young son and daughter, along with the family dog, kept her busy at home. "Home" being places like the coastal town of Santa Cruz, Donner Summit in the high Sierra Nevadas, Alaska and Utah, but mostly Foresthill, CA. In 1983, when their kids were grown, Faye and Dave divorced. Never remarrying, she continued to give her love and commitment to her family, which included her adult children and their spouses, a beloved grandson, her parents and her brothers.

Faye always loved to travel. Some of her happiest times were spent touring the US, bumping over the Alaska-Canada highway, fishing off the Oregon coast, exploring National Parks, attending reunions in South Dakota and visiting her Montana family.

Faye also loved to dance. Especially Contra and English Country dancing, with their friendly atmosphere, potlucks and English teas.

Preceding her in death were Faye's parents Burr and Dori, Step-father Emil Ochsner, Step-mother Lucy Foote, brother Carl (Barbara) Foote, and brother Harold Foote. She is survived by her son David Berry of California, daughter Tamara (Chris) Ritchson of Montana, grandson Brian Julian of California, brother Dick (Marvel) Foote of California, sister-in-law Mrs. Harold Foote “Ruth” of South Dakota, nieces, nephews and extended family.
