Juanita Annabelle Meahan passed away peacefully on Oct 10, 2020 in her home in Foresthill, Ca surrounded by her family. She was 90 years old.
Juanita was born on July 27, 1930 in Hoxie, Arkansas to Jeff Surridge and Mildred Eldena Erwin. She was the eldest of 5 children.
On July 24, 1949 she married her best friend and love of her life Floyd Meahan. Together they had two children Dawnita and Michael. They lived in the Concord area for about 30 years raising their family there. Juanita loved her job managing the kitchen at Mt. Diablo High School. She planned the menu's and ran an amazing food program.
Juanita loved music and dancing. Juanita and Floyd belonged to a couple of square dancing clubs...the Rolling Squares and the Concord Stompers. She made all of her outfits and was always the star of the show. Juanita was masterful at sewing and loved making beautiful quilts, she was really quite wonderful at any hobby she took to.
In 1979 they moved to Foresthill where they have now lived for 32 years. They loved this small community and for a couple of years owned and ran a small store called the Trading Post. Many summers were spent with family camping at Lake Sugar Pine, berry picking, and canning. Juanita loved to cook and loved to have company. She also loved her yard and doing yard work / burn piles, and all the surrounding wildlife. She was a true pioneer spirit. Juanita is such a treasure to anyone who had the opportunity to know her. She was/is the whole heart of our family and will surely be missed.
She survived by her husband of 71 years Floyd Meahan. Her daughter and son in law Dawnita and Dave Bowman. Six grandchildren and eight great-grands. Also her surviving siblings Glenda Whooley, Jim Erwin and Mary Romanoff. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Michael Meahan, her sister Fern Barnes and her nephew Jeffery Barnes.
