February was another great month of learning at Foresthill Divide School. Please continue reading below to catch up on the latest news with the district and campus.
Foresthill Union School District (FUSD) News: The next FUSD Board meeting is Monday, March 8 starting at our new time of 6:45p. Due to the current COVID-19 (C19) landscape, the meeting may be held via Zoom teleconferencing rather than in-person at the school. Access information will be on the district website no later than Friday, March 5 at changed time of 4:00p.m. for this Board meeting only.
At the last Board meeting on February 9, The Callen Group contract to facilitate the surplus property process for our old elementary school was approved. Stay tuned for more information regarding community and interested stakeholder outreach to invite potential members to serve on the committee that will drive this process and make final recommendations to the Board.
Foresthill Divide School (FDS) News: On February 26, our school welcomed back all of our students for daily full schedule in-person instruction on campus. Due to the collective commitment of teachers, staff, and families of FDS, our stated original goal of returning all of our students have now been met. Though we take great pride in our belief that our school is the first to have reached this goal in the region, our focus now will be to execute and continually improve our safety and health protocols to keep our classes and school open for the remainder of the school year.
In alignment with the kickoff of National Read Across America Day on March 2, FDS will begin its Lions Reading Project. This program will enable each teacher to have a two-month contest for their respective classes to encourage and support reading during that time period. Lions overall will be providing a $50.00 Barnes and Noble gift card for each winner in 20 classes and separately to 2 teachers. Thank you, Lions, for your continuous support with this program over the years.
And finally, I respectfully ask the community to be mindful of road safety and students when our school buses are on their routes. Please be sure to drive safely when near the buses, do not impede their paths, and stop on both sides of the road when the bus’s stop sign is displayed during loading and unloading of children.
FDS students, families, and staff remain steadfast in their commitment to the culture of positivity, can-do spirit, supportiveness, and kindness in the most challenging times of our lives. I would like the community to continue its commitment with our school and families in exhibiting the same positive culture throughout Foresthill as well…for the sake of our children’s success.
