Robert Palmeri is for 40 years a Foresthill resident, he is married for 41 years and they successfully raised two daughters, Stephanie, a principal of a bi-lingual school in San Jose, and Angela, a Child Protection Services worker in Auburn. He is a retired Commercial Construction Superinten…
Linda Cholcher is running for the FPUD Water Board again even though there was a massive effort by the Community to recall her and the other 3 incumbent Board Members. 1200 signatures were submitted to elections to recall her. 964 signatures were required to recall her. 236 signatures were d…
The FPUD Board’s seriously flawed rate study plan was protested and the Board was served with a Recall. These actions took a lot of passion and hard work from the Community to stop the rate increase and attempt to seat a new Board. A new Board, who will work for and with the Community, a Boa…
Our recall efforts are still in play. Our 1,200 signatures signed by Foresthill residents asking for a special election to recall Mark Bell, Neil Cochran, Patty Wade and Linda Cholcher as FPUD Directors is currently in litigation. An Appeal has been filed, and we wait for the courts to…
A ruling was handed down on September 10, by Judge Charles D. Wachob from Placer County Superior Court, dismissing Foresthill water rate payers petition to accept approximately 50 signatures submitted to the Election Department which were rejected for a variety of reasons. We argued that du…
On August 10, 1901, my grandfather, Carl H. Caples was born to Sanford Scott Caples and Ella Amelia Williams Caples at Henning's Camp in Placer County. I have been unable to ascertain just where Henning's Camp was located. I believe this may be somewhere near Michigan Bluff or Todd's Valley.…
Concerned FPUD Customers Recall lawsuit filed against the CA Secretary of State was vacated and refiled against Placer Elections Department on August 10. A hearing date has yet to be assigned. Due to the Corona virus, the courts are functioning at snail pace.
Rumors have it that the recent petitions to recall four FPUD Directors did not have enough signatures to qualify for an election. The proponents of this controversial ballot initiative have been strangely silent on this topic, even though the counting period ended on June 30.
sthill resident signatures were submitted to the Placer County Election Department, requesting an election to recall four of the remaining FPUD Board of Directors (one resigned a few months ago). The next step requires the Election Department validate a minimum of 964 of those signatures wh…
The Messenger recently published an article under the View by an apologist for the communist regime in China. This article was full of communist Chinese talking points about racism and “finger pointing” (who else to point to).
The hardest thing, and easiest thing to do is LET GO. I read the letter this week that was sent by the Court of Appeals to the Foresthill Public Utilities District. The letter instructed the PUD that their opening brief and appendix was due to the court by June 8. My first reaction was, “…
Thank you for including Brian Hack’s well-written and thought provoking piece about the state of this country. Mr. Trump and his cronies have, indeed, brought into the White House the longstanding underbelly of inequality, greed and short-sightedness our nation suffers from. His article prov…
Well, they’re out there again folks. You know, those pesky people haranguing you to sign petitions at the party bus. What is it they want this time? Turns out they weren’t satisfied turning back the FPUD water rate study. Now they want to “Throw the Bums out! Recall the Board! Those old peop…
After reading Neil Cochran’s previous Letter to the Editor (4/1/20), I am thinking that I must be living in an alternative world. For one-third of the page in The Messenger, he spent most of his time ranting about the evil spirit known as Miner’s Camp. He is convinced that the whole town i…
In the Letter to the Editor in April 1, Messenger, Neil Cochran, President of the FPUD Board of Directors, blames “public outrage toward himself and the remaining three Directors” on the Miners Camp owners. Cochran’s erroneous article illustrates how out of touch he is with the Community.
I am among the 1,200 plus Foresthill water rate payers who objected to the FPUD “water rate study” and to its potential implementation. I also support recalling the current FPUD Board and replacing them with people who will take our community concerns under advisement.
STOP! Before signing this recall ask yourself whose best interest is being served by recalling an entire board? Is it the litigants? Is it a group that suppo11s the litigants? Does it make sense to incur a costly recall when two positions are up for Election in November?
Knowing first hand the pain of caring for a loved one with cancer, as well as surviving breast cancer, Healing Pastures @ C Horse Ranch is once again offering a group for caregivers and one for survivors.
Both ends of California have had an unpleasant welcome to the Holiday Season. Northern California dealt with the wind-whipped Kincade Fire in Sonoma County while blowtorch-like winds in Southern California fueled the Maria Fire in Ventura County. I thank all First Responders, like the Neva…
With delayed thanks and blessings to the Foresthill Fire Department and others that came to my house at Happy Pines Dr., Todd Valley on July 29th. Special neighbors, Bob and Nancy who saw smoke on roof, called the Fire Department and helped me out of the house. The fire crew were so wonder…
What a wonderful day in celebration of the Foresthill Pool’s 50th Anniversary we all enjoyed last Sunday. The Pool was the vision of a group of ladies who formed the Foresthill Business and Professional Club in 1955 and with the donation of cash, materials and labor, were able to build the …
This letter to the editor I have been thinking about writing for a long time and finally decided to do it after hearing about another family selling their home and moving off the hill because the people in Foresthill aren’t friendly and there is nothing for them to do up here.
I am writing regarding the letter from the FPUD board members regarding the recall notices, I am appalled that the board members insist that what happened with Miner's Camp was a minor incident and that they made Miner's Camp whole per the court finding. Mr. Cochran you made light of the ina…
Contrary to what the Notice of Intention to Circulate a Recall Petition claims, FPUD Directors have always upheld the best interests of ratepayers, and we have not conspired to ignore court orders. FPUD Directors should not be recalled. These allegations are outright falsehoods spread by Min…
Never forget freedom gives us the right to question, act, and hold each other accountable without hindrance or restraint. We all have a responsibility to pay attention to what is happening inside the community. If you have a question, ask. If you don’t get an answer, ask again. If you do…
As a director of the FPUD Board I am proud of all the accomplishments that we have achieved in the resent years. We have not returned to the Dark ages. Then, we were about to run out of funds, be taken over by another Company, be faced with higher rates and no local input.
